ADDICTION: Maad digital, a new site for young people.

Mildeca (Interministerial Mission for the Fight against Drugs and Addictive Behaviors) and Inserm, in collaboration with the association Tree of Knowledge, are launching, Monday, November 28, Maad-digital.fr, a scientific information site on addictions built with young adolescents. The dangers associated with alcohol, tobacco and illicit drugs are deciphered through videos in an offbeat tone.

Why can alcohol make you violent and affect sexual performance? Why are teenage brains more addicted to cigarettes than adult brains? So many questions that find their answers precise, scientifically validated, within the reach of teenagers on the new site Maad-digital.fr.

This new platform, developed by researchers from Inserm and Midelca (Interministerial Mission for the Fight against Drugs and Addictive Behaviors), intends to arouse the interest of young people by providing educational and reliable scientific information on the mechanisms of drug addiction, says Inserm in a press release.

This initiative is the first in France. Young people were involved in the choice of subjects and their treatment. There are articles and videos " in language and media adapted to the multimedia uses of young people". Thus, we can watch one of the first videos with the catchy title: " is alcohol the cause of fights?“, A format devoted to“ binge-drinking ”, this tendency to get drunk in record time, particularly popular among the youngest or even quizzes aimed at dismantling clichés on alcohol, cannabis or tobacco.

Through the various videos, the displayed desire is to make young adolescents understand how the mechanism of addiction is set up in the brain, in particular through the reward system.
The site is intended to be participatory by offering the possibility of posting ideas for a subject, becoming a reviewer of articles and also reporting information found on the web considered "dubious" which deserves to be validated scientifically. A Facebook page has also been created.
