CANADA: The founder of Vaporium finally pleads guilty.

Sylvain Longpré, founder of Vaporium and considered the pioneer of the electronic cigarette in Quebec, pleaded guilty to three charges of misrepresentation to customs officers and illegal importation of liquid nicotine.

45 DAYS IN PRISON AND $ 10 FINE!

The former owner and founder of the Vaporium company attempted to import from the United States between 300 and 400 liters of pure liquid nicotine, a substance considered a prescription drug under federal food and drug laws.
Vaporium was the first company to sell and distribute electronic cigarettes in the country. At the time of the 2014 searches in June, Vaporium was hiring around twenty people in its three stores and its nicotine production laboratory.

A mutual aid campaign to pay the fine of $ 10 is underway (To participate, go to this address)

Sylvain Longpré was sentenced to a fine of $ 10 and will have to serve 000 days in jail intermittently on weekends. His brother Christian Longpré had tried to illegally introduce into the country a quantity of 45 liters of nicotine. For his offense, he was fined $ 80 and a four-month suspended sentence at home.

The two decided to plead guilty because they could not afford legal fees in a trial.

What about the continuation of 27,5 million $ that Sylvain Longpré had brought against the federal prosecutor, Health Canada and the Canada Border Services Agency, she is currently on the ice. Mr. Longpré says he lost all his assets in this mishap and he does not know if he will have the necessary financial resources to mandate a prosecutor to continue the proceedings.
