In Scotland, restrictions on electronic cigarettes including a ban on sale to under 18s have come into force.

The new regulations therefore prohibit people under 18 from buying tobacco and nicotine vape products more commonly known as personal vaporizers or e-cigarettes. Anyone who purchases these products for a minor will also be breaking the law, so it's up to the shops that carry these products to verify the age of the customers.
Aileen Campbell, the minister of public health, said: " We know that electronic cigarettes are certainly safer than cigarettes and have a role in helping people quit smoking, but we believe that children should not have access to them. This is why these age restrictions are so important. As of today, it is illegal to sell e-cigarettes or to purchase them for anyone under the age of 18. In addition, all retailers that sell tobacco or e-cigarettes must be registered and perform age verification. »

So that everything happens in the best possible way, the Minister specifies: " We are working closely with the Scottish Grocers' Federation to keep sellers informed of any changes to their business. These restrictions appeared with the Health Act 2016, which also contained restrictions on advertising and a ban on vending machines. Regarding these two measures, they should be introduced later this year.
