It's the start of a new year and the AIDUCE (Independent Association of Electronic Cigarette Users) is therefore proposing its press release presenting the objectives for 2017. So what should we expect from Aiduce for the defense of vaping in 2017 ?
THE AIDUCE COMMUNIQUE
2016 was a year full of events for the vape, including the implementation and transcription of the European Tobacco Products Directive, which incorporates vape as a related product of tobacco.
La health law,May order, and published decrees and decrees (a, b, c, d, e) thus severely restricted the vape we knew and practiced until now. Actions still need to be taken to try to limit the damage: restrictions on nicotine, limitation of containers, costly declarations, prohibition in public places, etc.
Professionals in the sector, public health players and users have mobilized on all fronts to ensure that these restrictions are as limited as possible in France, to allow users to continue to vape as freely as possible.
The fight is long and difficult. While many health professionals are convinced of the benefits of the vape in reducing the risks of smoking, the authorities often see this device as an attempt to seduce the tobacco industry, although in France the vape market is mostly independent of this industry and is now used in France by more than one million users who have become non-smokers.
In 2017, as every year since its existence, AIDUCE will continue its fight for a free and responsible vape.
As in 2016, we will continue to participate in standardization work. We are pursuing this and in particular the steps taken with the Directorate General of Health, and will work with Santé Publique France so that the vape is fully recognized as a tool for reducing risks related to smoking.
In 2017, and at the invitation of Professor Vallet of the Directorate General of Health and the MILDECA, AIDUCE will also participate in the coordination committee of the National Plan for Tobacco Reduction (PNRT). As a reminder, the government initiated this plan in September 2014, as part of the 2014 / 2019 cancer plan. The goal of this program was to reduce the number of smokers 10% 5 years, 20% 10 years, and thus reach the end of 20 years to a first generation of non-smokers. This committee is one of the main sources of recommendations for the Ministry of Health.
AIDUCE has accepted this invitation to defend the potential of the vape and the freedoms of its current or potential users to the committee. His patient work has thus allowed him to establish his legitimacy and to sit alongside the DGS, MILDECA, the DGOS, the DSS, the DGCS, the DGT, the HAS, the INCA, the ANSM, etc.
A hint of recognition?
Can we hope that despite the pitfalls that have arisen against it, the vape is again recognized as a consumer product and accepted as a real tool for reducing the risks of smoking in the French health scene? The future will confirm it, we hope. But in any case, as part of this new responsibility, AIDUCE will continue to defend its views and defend a free, accessible, and cheaper vape than tobacco to be more attractive. It will continue its fight against preconceived ideas and unfounded dangers of which it still too often continues to be unjustly accused.
To conclude on a touch of optimism at the dawn of the new year, let us not forget that French vapoteurs are still well-endowed in the eyes of consumers in too many countries where the vape is purely and simply prohibited. The fight that drives us does not stop at our borders. It is European and global.
The AIDUCE finally remains an association animated by some volunteers who can not devote to the news of the vape that the only time they have within the limits of their personal contingencies, which unfortunately does not allow him to be on all fronts and imposes arbitrations on him. The Bureau and the Board of Directors of the association will therefore try to continue focusing in 2017 on the priority topics and especially on the actions and approaches that will allow them to really weigh in the decisions that will impact the vape in the times to come .
