ARGENTINA: The vape is no longer welcome in the country!

Even though vaping is a complicated subject in South America, Argentina has just strengthened its legislative arsenal with a new resolution that puts a serious thorn in the side of reducing smoking risks in the country. From now on, it is indeed prohibited, throughout the country, to import, distribute and market vaping products…

ARGENTINA, A COUNTRY WITHOUT VAPING!

The information fell on March 23, Carla Vizzotti, current Minister of Health, published a new resolution in the official journal. The resolution 565/2023 brings new articles to Law No. 26.687, which already regulates the advertising, promotion and consumption of products "tobacco-based".

According to the figures provided by the document, the impact of tobacco consumption in the Argentine Republic has been estimated at 45 000 death (14% of all deaths), 19 000 cancer diagnoses, 33 000 pneumonia, 11 strokes and 61 000 hospitalizations for cardiovascular diseases, and more than 100 000 people with COPD each year.

It is however a surprising decision which has just been taken because the vape as well as the heated tobacco products nevertheless considered as “risk reduction” find themselves prohibited from importation, distribution and marketing following this new resolution.

If you have to travel to Argentina, it will therefore no longer be possible to take your electronic cigarette with you.
