BELGIUM: An increase in verbalization of vapers in trains.

In Belgium, the verbalization of travelers who smoke or use electronic cigarettes in trains is on the increase. This increase could be linked to this increase in the ignorance of the law by vapers.

THE USE OF E-CIGARETTE IS PROHIBITED AS MUCH AS SMOKING IN TRAINS

In 2017, the SNCB wanted the railway police to be able to verbalize those who smoke or vapot where it is prohibited. Today, the first findings are arriving and show an increase in the verbalization of vapers and smokers on trains.

The Minister of Mobility, François Bellot, told the House that 176 people had been fined over the past four years for smoking or using an e-cigarette on a train. This increase could quite simply be linked to the growing craze for electronic cigarettes and the lack of awareness of the law by vapers.

« In Belgium, the use of the e-cigarette is just as forbidden in trains as normal cigarettes or the pipe " , highlighted Thierry Ney, SNCB.

The most cases were found in Brussels (109), ahead of East Flanders (19), Luxembourg (14) and Namur (11).
