BIOCARBURANT: An alternative for Big Tobacco?

The airline company South African Airways and its low cost subsidiary Mango made two flights on Friday fueled in part by biofuel made from "Solaris", a tobacco plant without nicotine. A real alternative market for Big Tobacco which will therefore be able to launch into biofuel instead of continuing to bury the human population (yes, it's a sweet dream).

imagesMarking both "Africa's first green commercial flight" and Boeing's hundredth anniversary, the two flights of the 15 July 2016 carried some 300 passengers between Johannesburg-OR Tambo Airport and Cape Town. The 737-800 used for the occasion a mixture of 30% biofuel based on "Solaris", a nicotine-free tobacco plant produced by Sunchem, refined by AltAir Fuels and supplied by SkyNRG. South African Airways « is committed to sustainable development, and this theft underscores the bold plans we are taking to protect and preserve our environment while creating opportunities for the economic development of our people Said in a statement the interim CEO Musa Zwane

More than 2500 commercial flights fueled in part by biofuel have been made worldwide since 2011, according to Boeing.
