The Landlords Association of Quebec (APQ) informs the population through a short capsule on the right to smoke (and vape) in housing and common areas of rental buildings.
Since May 26, 2016, for all apartment buildings with two or more dwellings, it is forbidden to smoke in common areas, in application of Bill 44, aimed at strengthening the fight against smoking.
Regarding the interior of each accommodation, if you specify it on the lease, it is possible and recognized by the courts to prohibit smoking inside the accommodation.
