CANADA: A child hospitalized after having ingested an e-liquid "Unicorn Milk"

In Canada, a mother in New Brunswick says her nine-year-old daughter was hospitalized after eating an e-liquid from a colorful bottle marked "Unicorn Milk".

A REQUEST FOR A BAN FOR E-LIQUIDS WHICH ARE ATTRACTIVE TO CHILDREN

Lea L'Hoir is calling on the federal government to impose a ban on the names of electronic cigarette products that may be attractive to children. The mother said that her daughter and several other children found the tube containing the liquid in a Fredericton schoolyard on Monday. On the purple package appears the image of a rainbow. The sight of a pink and purple unicorn would have made the children believe that they were dealing with a treat and they have ingested a few drops, still according to Ms. L'Hoir.

Her daughter was later taken to hospital because she had stomach pain, speech difficulties and chest pains. The girl was then able to return to her home. The mother also claims to have suffered from anxiety and sleep disturbances due to her child's health condition. She wants assurances that a new federal law will ban attractive packaging for children.

A bill studied by the Senate would prohibit labels that are appealing to children or that use fictional animal characters.
