CANADA: British Columbia to launch a series of restrictive measures against vaping!

Will it never stop? In Canada, British Columbia has just unveiled new measures regarding vaping, responding to the concerns of parents and experts following health problems related to the consumption of vapers and the growing number of young people who use them.

LIMITATION OF NICOTINE, NEUTRAL PACKAGE, ADVERTISING REGULATIONS ...

A series of restrictive measures surrounding e-cigarettes, which will come into force in the spring of 2020, affect products, their access, their marketing and their taxation, and make the Canadian province the most restrictive in the country in terms of vaping .

In addition, the Government of British Columbia limits the proportion of nicotine in refills for electronic cigarettes to 20 mg / ml. Vaping products should have plain packaging that includes health warnings.

Advertising will be heavily regulated in bus stops and parks where young people are often found. In order not to favor the black market, the sale of flavored products is not prohibited, but will only be authorized in stores prohibited to under 19s.

In a statement, the Minister of Health, Adrian Dix states: " As a result, the rate of vaping in young people increases, exposing them to a risk of dependence and serious illness."

It is encouraging that the government recognizes that vaping is a major health issue, points out opposition to the Legislature through the hon. member for Kamloops-South Thompson, Todd stone.

In addition, a bill provides for an increase in the tax on sales of products for vaping. It will change from 7% to 20% starting January 1er.
