CANADA: The province of Saskatchewan is considering a bill to regulate e-cigarettes.

In Canada, it is now a question of e-cigarette regulations in the province of Saskatchewan. Saskatchewan Minister of Health, Jim Reiterindicates that the government could introduce a bill in October to regulate the use of electronic cigarettes in the province.

RESTRICTIONS ON AROMAS… A POSSIBLE TAX?

Vaping products may be subject to regulation similar to that of tobacco products. In June, the Canadian Cancer Society sounded the alarm to alert public opinion about vaping among Saskatchewan youth and to call for intervention from the provincial government. The latter replied that he was considering legislating on this subject.

Jim Reiter is sorry that the electronic cigarette, presented as a help to quit smoking, is used by children: " It's disturbing that young people are introduced to nicotine."

The Minister of Health specifies that the new regulation will provide for restrictions on the flavors of these vaping products sold at retailers, such as convenience stores. It does not exclude the possibility of taxing these products to discourage their use. Saskatchewan and Alberta are the only provinces that do not have legislation specifically regulating the use of e-cigarettes.
