The City of Saint-Lambert and the Montérégie-Center Integrated Health and Social Services Center (CISSSMC) continue their Smoke-free campaign! to inform the public about new measures stemming from the law to strengthen the fight against smoking.

Since November 26, 2016, it is forbidden to consume any tobacco product, including electronic cigarettes (vaping), within a radius of 9 meters from any door, air intake or window that may open onto a closed place that welcomes the public.

In order to comply with this provincial law designed to prevent young people from being exposed to tobacco and to protect the public from the dangers of exposure to second-hand tobacco smoke, the City of Saint-Lambert has withdrawn ashtrays located at the entrances to its buildings and proceeded to display to notify citizens of the new regulations.

These actions go in the same direction as the update, the 13 last October, of its Policy on the use of tobacco. The City added the mention of vaping among banned tobacco products and the prohibition of smoking within 9 meters of entrances to municipal buildings and outdoor recreational facilities. In addition, the City offers its employees a program to help them quit smoking. In particular, she promotes the services of the CISSSTM Smoking Cessation Center.
