CANADA: Towards regulations banning vaping flavors!

It's not a real surprise, but the noose is tightening around vaping in Canada. Indeed, the federal government says it wants to ban most of the flavors used in vaping, the aim would be to reduce their appeal to young people.

CONDEMNATION OF THE "UNRESERVE" PROJECT BY CDVQ!

Will vaping be able to survive in the next few years in Canada? Health Canada released a regulatory proposal on Friday that would ban all flavors of electronic cigarettes except tobacco, mint and menthol. These proposed rules would prevent the use of most flavoring ingredients, including all sugars and sweeteners, in vaping products.

Ottawa also wants to ban the promotion of flavors other than tobacco, mint or menthol, and set standards that would limit the flavors and odors emanating from vaping products. In a press release issued on Friday, the Quebec vaping rights coalition (CDVQ) asserted " unreservedly condemn this project which will ultimately undermine tobacco control and public health efforts ».

« Its success lies in its effectiveness in the fight against smoking insofar as the products to be consumed are pleasant to the taste, while that of tobacco reminds them too much of that of cigarettes. », Defends the CDVQ.

« If smoking rates in Canada start to rise, I hope that Health Canada and the anti-tobacco groups will honestly reassess this regulatory decision and correct their mistake. ", Advanced Eric Gagnon, Vice-President of Corporate and Regulatory Affairs for Imperial Tobacco Canadain a statement.
