CHINA: Shenzhen city bans e-cigarettes in public places!

Mind-blowing! If there is a city where e-cigarettes were not expected to be banned, it is Shenzhen, where at least 90% of vaping products available on the market come from. Yet this southern Chinese suburb city recently added e-cigarettes to its smoking checklist, further tightening the ban on smoking in public places.

THE LEADER PLACE OF VAPE IN THE WORLD BANS USE IN PUBLIC PLACES

The city of Shenzhen, which is home to many companies producing e-cigarettes, has just banned the use of vaping in public places. Surprising? Well not really!

In China, smoking is prohibited in all indoor public places, workplaces and public transportation. However, there is some controversy over whether e-cigarettes should be in the category of anti-tobacco products.

According to the new regulations, vaping is prohibited in public places in Shenzhen, including bus docks and waiting rooms in public establishments. The move follows the doctrine of other Chinese cities, including Hong Kong, Macau, Hangzhou and Nanning, which have implemented similar e-cigarette bans.

According to a report released in May by the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention, young people make up the bulk of e-cigarette users. According to this report, its utilization rate increased from 2015 to 2018.

If we refer to the project A healthy China 2030 »Published in 2016, the country has set itself the goal of reducing the rate of smoking (and vaping a priori) among those aged 15 and over to 20% by 2030, against 26,6% currently.
