Just like Imperial Brands or even British American Tobacco, the cigarette maker Japan Tobacco International (JTI) is betting on the future with the imminent arrival of a new model of e-cigarette: The Logic Compact. The interest will obviously be to succeed Juul Labs which is gradually settling all over the world.

The upheaval in the tobacco market, driven by the price increases imposed since April 2018 by the government, is forcing manufacturers to accelerate their strategic shift. Cigarette sales at tobacconists fell by 10% last year, and the price increase effective since early March 2019 should make the fall continue. To compensate for this, Philip Morris (Marlboro), market leader, is betting on a less harmful system of heating tobacco, without commercial success for the moment. Number two, Japan Tobacco International (JTI), owner of Camel and Winston, is betting on electronic cigarettes.

The group was a pioneer at the end of 2015 by launching Logic Pro, the first e-cigarette with pre-filled cartridges. He invested in an advertising campaign, authorized at the time; the following spring, the law restricted the possibilities of communication only to points of sale. Logic Pro has become the number one e-cigarette brand among tobacconists.

To convert a clientele of younger adult smokers, JTI launches this Thursday Logic Compact. "Its stainless steel coating gives it a modern look, design and premium“, Assures the group, which has learned from the phenomenal success of Juul in the United States. The Japanese group, which will have invested 2 billion euros between 2015 and 2020 in products with reduced risk, ensures that the new model offers "a more powerful vaping experience».

In France, Logic Compact will be sold exclusively to tobacconists, who have accelerated their diversification into alternative products to cigarettes.
