It is still bad news that is announced for the vape in the weeks to come. After the regulations, here comes the time of the shortage but also of a potential significant surge in the price of vaping equipment. China no longer seems to want to play the game and the e-cigarette industry is in imminent danger.
REGULATIONS IN CHINA, A SPIKE IN STORE PRICES?
Will vapers eventually have to go back to smoking tobacco? This is a question that arises more and more as the market gets more and more carried away. These last days, it is a political choice of China which comes to play the spoilsports. Indeed, under strict new regulations, the prices of vaping products in China have increased. Recently, many brands of electronic cigarettes have seen their prices increase by 20 to 30 yuan (2,8 to 4,2 euros). As a result, the Chinese market is increasingly out of stock and it is difficult to buy even at a higher price.
Direct impact on the European and more particularly French market, the price of vaping equipment is soaring. Transport problem due to constraints imposed in Shenzhen, increase in raw materials, large Chinese firms (Geekvape, Vaporesso, Voopoo) announce in turn the pain that has direct repercussions on the shops and especially the consumer.
INFLATION, THE PRICE OF E-LIQUIDS IMPACTED?
In the same vein, it is also e-liquids that could be impacted by inflation. The price of propylene glycol, vegetable glycerine and flavorings is clearly not looking good and the congestion of major ports in the fall of 2020 has not helped matters. Adding to this the rise in the price of energy and raw materials, particularly for e-liquid bottles, it is easy to understand that the juice market will be strongly impacted in the months to come.
