UNITED STATES: New e-cigarette regulations in Massachusetts!

In the United States, more and more States are choosing to limit the age limit for obtaining vaping products or are putting in place new regulations on e-cigarettes. This is the case of the state of Massachusetts, which is currently proposing to limit the minimum age for purchasing tobacco products to 21 years and to impose new regulations on e-cigarettes.

AGE LIMIT TO 21 YEARS AND NEW REGULATIONS ON E-CIGARETTE!

The noose is tightening more and more on the vaping industry in the United States. In the state of Massachusetts, anti-smoking groups want the law to set the minimum age for purchasing tobacco products at 21 in order to reduce smoking among teenagers. While the minimum age is currently set at 21 in 170 cities across the state, it is still 18 in a few others. The goal would clearly be to standardize regulations by making Massachusetts the sixth state to set the minimum purchase age at 21 years.

Last Wednesday, the House of Representatives took the first steps to make the change by approving a proposal to raise the age of 21 for all tobacco products and establish new regulations for e-cigarettes. The measure, approved by a vote of 146 for and 4 against must also be approved by the Senate and be signed by the governor. Charlie Baker.

« We need to take stronger action to reduce youth smoking and nicotine addiction“, Said the representative Lori Ehrlich, « This would create a uniform law across the state, as right now kids just have to go to another city to shop legally."

The proposal would also ban the sale of tobacco products in pharmacies. Manufacturers of e-cigarettes, for their part, would be required to use child-resistant bottles for e-liquids with nicotine. The fine for failure to comply with this provision will be $ 1 per violation.

Michael Seilback, a spokesman for the American Lung Association reports for its part a proliferation of e-cigarettes among adolescents and young adults. "Many parents do not even know that their children use e-cigarettes", did he declare.

If the new regulations are approved, they will come into effect on 31 next December.
