In the state of Pennsylvania, a law that has just been approved will introduce a tax of 40% on the price before tax of cigarettes but also e-cigarettes. It's still a blow to the vaping industry in the United States.
A BILL THAT WILL PROVIDE FUNDING TO BALANCE THE BUDGET.
The democratic governor Tom Wolf on Wednesday therefore signed a bill which imposes higher taxes on cigarettes as well as e-cigarettes. The proceeds from this bill will be intended to provide sufficient funding to balance the budget of 31,5 billion. As far as the e-cigarette is concerned, the fee is 40% on the HT price. As the law has not yet been promulgated, it is important to specify that when it is, distributors, resellers and manufacturers will also have to pay a 40 tax% on all their already existing stocks.
Just for the e-cigarette, the measure should yield 13 million dollars.
