UNITED STATES: The trial against Juul in North Carolina, a "frivolous" attack and ignorance ...

The trial filed last week by the Attorney General of North Carolina in the United States against e-cigarette maker JUUL is not all it seems! At least, that's the advice given by a government relations expert to an Illinois-based free market think tank.

George Jamerson, Director of Government Relations at The Heartland Institute

JUUL IN JUSTICE, FEAR AND IGNORANCE A PRODUCT OF RISK REDUCTION!

« It's the same old situation" , said George Jamerson, director of government relations at The Heartland Institute. " It is politically practical. This trial is frivolous and amounts to political embarrassment."

Following this lawsuit filed last week by the Attorney General of North Carolina, George Jamerson is in the misunderstanding, for him it is clear: the supporters of this litigation against Juul often speak in ignorance.

« There are parents who demand action because they believe e-cigarettes are like regular cigarettes, which couldn't be further from the truth." , did he declare.

« But politicians can easily score points and tackle "Big Tobacco". The constant claims that e-cigarettes are "a gateway to the use of combustible cigarettes" are patently false and are not supported by any data.  »He adds.

In the May 15 lawsuit filed in North Carolina in Durham County Superior Court, a claim asserts that Juul minimized the concentration of nicotine levels in its products, marketing its cartridges with minimal risk. The company is also attacked that young people have been specifically targeted in advertisements produced by Juul Labs.

« Juul targeted young people as clients"Said Mr. Stein in a statement released shortly after the complaint was filed. This lawsuit is the first of its kind brought by a state against the famous cigarette manufacturer e.

Stein's allegations that JUUL markets its products to children are largely based on Juul's proposed flavors, said Jamerson.

« They say some flavors are marketing to kids, which just isn't true, ”he said. “Flavors are the main reason e-cigarettes have been so effective in reducing smoking in adults. »

According to George Jameson, a North Carolina victory in this lawsuit could lead to a pure and simple ban of flavors in e-liquids.

« This will give ammunition for a ban on flavors, and a ban on flavors would in many ways be a de facto ban on vaping products" , did he declare. " You take away the allure of those products that help quit smoking, which of course they see as a victory, but in reality the increased use of combustible cigarettes will have unintended consequences. »
