UNITED STATES: Indiana lawmakers absolutely want a tax on e-cigarettes!

In the state of Indiana in the United States, lawmakers are pushing for an e-cigarette tax. The stated goal is clear: To discourage the use of vaping products.

THE COUNTER-ATTACK AFTER A FIRST FAIL!

The head of Indiana's leading medical organization said the spread of vaping-related illness and death was a testament to the need for taxes to discourage the use of e-cigarettes.

Le Dr. Lisa Hatcher, of Columbia City, president of the Indiana State Medical Association, told a federal legislative committee that Indiana must join other states with excise taxes on e-liquids.

A proposed tax on vaping (20%) failed in this year's legislative session. Far from giving up this fight, Dr Hatcher and other taxpayers believe that this tax could in particular discourage adolescents from using e-cigarettes.

While health officials blame three deaths in Indiana and at least 26 nationwide from the recent health scandal, owners of vape shops in Indiana say black market products are the problem.
