UNITED STATES: No ban on flavored e-liquids in Albany County

In the United States, Albany County, one of 62 counties in New York State, was preparing to vote yesterday to ban tobacco and flavored e-liquids. This choice came even as New York's ban on flavored vaping products was suspended. A few hours ago, the vote gave its verdict and the law was rejected.

"OUR YOUNG PEOPLE ARE ADDICTED TO THE E-CIGARETTE"

After months of delay, Albany County lawmakers were ready to pass legislation banning the sale of flavored tobacco and flavored vaping products.

The effort comes as a new statewide ban on flavored vaping products is suspended in court. If this law passes, Albany County will be the first in the state to implement the ban. Last September, Yonkers became the first city in the state to pass a ban on the subject.

«We have seen an explosion in vaping and the use of these products among young people in recent years, to the point that our high schools are forced to install screens in the toilets to deter them.Said the county legislator, Paul Miller, who sponsored the bill. He also states " Our young people are addicted to this kind of products"

Proponents of the bill hoped that this legislation could help stem the rise in youth smoking by reducing the supply of flavored products in circulation, known to attract children and young adults.

A FAKE FAILURE FOR THIS BILL!

A few hours ago, the vote took place and the result was not up to par for Paul Miller. Indeed, the Albany County legislature failed to muster the 20 votes needed for the controversial ban on the sale of flavored tobacco products throughout the county. In the vote which drew more than 100 spectators out of their homes on a cold November night, the Legislative Assembly voted 18 to 17 in favor of the ban, with one abstention and several absences.

« We are quite disappointed“Said lawmaker Paul Miller, who sponsored the bill. " There were people who said they were going to vote on our side and then did not.". So this is good news for vape professionals and consumers in Albany County who can savor this small victory.
