USA: Pennsylvania wants to treat e-cigarettes like tobacco.

The Allegheny County Council votes this Tuesday on new regulations concerning vaping. This vote must ban vaping devices in schools, workplaces, sports stadiums, government buildings, buses, booths and all other public spaces. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, this new law is expected to relegate the use of electronic cigarettes only to areas where smoking is permitted.

The Allegheny County Health Council has reportedly already passed the measure with a unanimous vote (6 votes for and none against). To justify themselves, the officials in question cite the possible dangers of exposure to passive vaping.

« I don't think there is any evidence that vaping is dangerous for third parties ”, said Ed Kress, "We hurt people who try to find a solution"

This law includes some exceptions, such as vape in bars, tobacconists and vape shops. Health officials say the vape could have a negative impact on the health of non-vapers.

Le Dr. Karen Hacker, director of county health department declared "Our basic message is clear: if you want to use an e-cigarette to quit smoking, that's a good thing ” before specifying "But the question here is not what you choose to do, but the impact it may have on others."
