In the state of Indiana in the United States, the Senate overwhelmingly approved (49 votes to 1) a bill to significantly reduce the regulation of e-liquids.

The existing e-liquids regulation in Indiana has created a true monopoly forcing dozens of manufacturers to close or leave the state leaving only seven companies in place. This economic disaster provoked an investigation by the FBI as well as numerous lawsuits.
Laws proposed earlier this year removed some manufacturing and safety requirements for e-liquids, but after the bill was introduced, a federal court ruled that Indiana could not impose all these regulations on manufacturers out of state.
So that decision pushed the Republican senator's bill Randy Head who wants to go further, not wishing to regulate Indiana businesses differently from those outside of the state. The measure now requires manufacturers to install child locks, tamper-resistant packaging and a lot number on the packaging.

But a dissenting and solemn voice was also heard in the Senate, it is about the Democrat Greg Taylor (D-Indianapolis) for whom the changes go too far. "Cit certainly won't help us regulate the e-liquids that so many people are going to use in Indiana.He says. According to him, the relaxation of the regulations opens the possibility of mixing illegal drugs in e-liquids.
To this, Republican Randy Head replies “These products cannot be damaged. I'm sure you can't put heroin or marijuana in it. Anyway, these products are not legal ”.
With this vote in the 49 Senate against 1 approving the bill this one is sent to the House of Representatives.
