While e-cigarettes are currently prohibited in checked baggage on planes, the United States Senate is due to debate next week on the re-authorization of the aircraft. FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). The debate will focus in part on an amendment that would expand the ban on e-cigarettes and other vaping products on all flights.
AMENDMENT (SA 3547): A VICTORY FOR BIG TOBACCO?
It is therefore in a week that it should be played. The Senator Blumenthal (D-CT) proposed a amendment (SA 3547) which would make it possible to expand the list of dangerous products by adding personal vaporizers and especially by banning them completely on flights (including in hand luggage).
Currently, it is already forbidden to vapote during flights and it is also impossible to transport products of vape in luggage checked in the hold. This amendment SA 3547 would bring an additional ban that would simply force the vapers to leave their products at home while traveling by plane. Clearly it would be an additional difficulty for these millions of people who try to wean themselves off the tobacco with the vaporizer.
This amendment would simply be a victory for the tobacco giants! On-the-go vapers will be forced to give up their e-cigarettes at home and once they reach their destination there are strong 
chances that they will turn to using products marketed by Big Tobacco available in " Duty Free"
Over 9 million Americans use e-cigarettes as an alternative to tobacco. Why would the US Senate want to ban the population from traveling with ?
The SFATA (Smoke free alternatives trade association) calls for this new amendment to be challenged so that millions of Americans can successfully continue their efforts to quit smoking. The association offers a link on its site that allows each American to know which Senator to contact.
