STUDY: Youth who test vaping are more likely to smoke.

According to a study from Scotland, the bridge effect between vaping and electronic cigarettes is not a myth. The results of the study would show that young people who test vaping are more likely to become smokers the following year.

40% OF THE PARTICIPANTS WHO TRIED THE E-CIGARETTE WERE SMOKERS!

This study, which comes straight from Scotland, was carried out by three universities (Stirling, St Andrews and Edinburgh), it would show that young people who test vaping are more inclined to become smokers the following year.

To provide these findings, Scottish youths aged 11 to 18 years were surveyed in February and March 2015 and then one last time in March 2016 a year later. The results of this research would show that 40% of young participants who tried the e-cigarette in the first survey would become smokers a year later.

For the Dr. Catherine Best, researcher at the University of Stirling ” Our results are broadly similar to those of eight other US studies. However, this is the first such study UK". She also declares "  Research also shows that e-cigarettes have a significant impact on the experimentation of young people who have never had the idea of smoking and who have never even had the idea of trying."

The initial investigation that took place in 2015 found that 183 of young 2.125 who had never smoked, on the other hand, had already experienced vaping. It was also found that only 12,8% (249) young not having tried the electronic cigarette subsequently turned to tobacco.

To Sally Haw, professor of public health: "  More research is needed to find out how experimentation with e-cigarettes may influence smoking attitudes among young people who are least likely to become smokers."
