Until now, no data was available about the use of e-cigarettes in smokers and blood pressure, today it is done with the publication of a new study conducted by the Professor Riccardo Polosa et Jaymin B. Morjaria.
THE E-CIGARETTE CAN HELP SMOKERS WITH HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
Electronic cigarettes are devices designed to vaporize nicotine e-liquids which can help smokers quit or reduce their tobacco use. No data were available regarding the health effects of e-cigarette use in smokers with high blood pressure. It was also not known whether regular use of e-cigarettes could lead to changes in blood pressure.

A comprehensive review of the medical records of patients with hypertension was performed to identify patients who report daily e-cigarette use on at least two consecutive visits. Hypertensive patients and regular smokers were included as a reference group.
As might be expected, the decrease in cigarette consumption among e-cigarette users may be associated with improved blood pressure control. The study concludes that regular use of e-cigarettes can help smokers with high blood pressure reduce or quit smoking. On the other hand, there is only a slight weight gain after stopping. This resulted in improvements in systolic and diastolic blood pressure as well as better control of it.
