STUDY: e-cigs advertising would influence teens!

You've probably seen articles that explain how advertisements induce teenagers to use alcohol or drugs. Young people are more likely to try e-cigarettes after seeing an advertisement, according to a new study.

The study was initiated by Matthew Farrelly and published in " The American Journal of Preventative Medicine". Farrelly and his colleagues have reportedly discovered that when a teenager sees four advertisements related to e-cigarettes, there is a increase of 50% in the likelihood of using it in the future. Teenagers are also more likely to have positive feelings about e-cigarettes.

After all, these ads are designed to influence the public's perception of a brand or product (Advertising) and always lead to a strong desire for those products. Was it really necessary to do a new study to understand this?

If they had studied a group of teenagers watching four commercials featuring hamburgers, wouldn't they be more likely to want a hamburger afterwards? Wouldn't they be more inclined to have positive things to say about eating burgers? These are principles of psychology.

The problem here is quite simply that lawmakers will cling to this information and use it to try to counter e-cigarettes. But why should e-cigarette ads be 087e6e1prohibited if one authorizes those for alcohol? Isn't alcohol a serious threat to minors? Yet there are in the United States more than 5000 minor deaths every year following alcohol-related incidents, and how many adolescents die after using electronic cigarettes? Not one !

We must protect the children. This is the favorite argument of lawmakers and political experts around the world. However, electronic cigarettes don't have to be enemy number 1! This study is yet another case of wasting research funds that could have been used for something more beneficial to society.
