If tobacco is more and more essential in Africa, the electronic cigarette is for its part more and more confronted with bans. After Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania, it is now Ghana which is preparing to ban electronic cigarettes and shisha by June 2018.
THE HARMFUL EFFECTS OF CHICHA HAVE AN IMPACT ON VAPOTAGE!
Based on a study of Ghana Health Service, Ghana's Minister of Health announced a future ban on shisha. Indeed, the results of the study showing the harmful effects of shisha on health are pushing the government to act.
By June 2018, Ghana may add its name to the list of African countries that have legislated on the use of shisha. But this measure does not also target the electronic cigarette, indeed, the objective is also to prohibit vaping.
Le Dr. Divine Logo, at the head of the research center, explains that " Shisha is more dangerous than cigarettes. Taking a puff is like smoking a whole cigarette". Faced with the expansion of its use, the doctor advocates the outright ban of shisha.
But why ban the electronic cigarette? If no reason is mentioned for the moment, it feels like a parallel between shisha and vaping, yet it has absolutely nothing to do.
In view of the application of this measure, the Ghanaian government also intends to secure its borders to prevent any illegal importation of shisha or electronic cigarettes.
