HEALTH: “Vaping is certainly less toxic than cigarettes” for Professor Daniel Thomas

While the " Month without tobacco » is in full swing and many media are talking about vaping, some health experts are taking advantage of the moment to recall the usefulness and benefits of vaping in the fight against smoking.

UNDERSTAND VAPE TO NOT FALL BACK INTO SMOKING!

If on the scale of public health research, a decade does not provide the necessary perspective for a perfect health assessment. Nevertheless, scientific studies are accumulating, and allow us to identify some certainties. In particular one: vaping is certainly less toxic than cigarettes.

« Vapers need to understand this, so that they don't start smoking again.“, warns Prof Daniel Thomas, cardiologist and member andAlliance Against Tobacco (ACT), the two main anti-tobacco organizations in France.

For the Professor Gérard Dubois, member of the National Academy of Medicine and professor emeritus of public health, the observation is clear: “The combustion of cigarettes produces tar, responsible for cancers – lungs, larynx, bladder, etc. -, and carbon monoxide, linked to various cardiovascular disorders, including myocardial infarctions. This is not the case with vaping which simply heats a dilution medium (propylene glycol and/or vegetable glycerin), nicotine and different aromas.

As a reminder, Professor Gérard Dubois clarifies once again that “ Propylene glycol is considered so safe that it is authorized to produce smoke and fog in shows"
