- Hello, you are the organizer of Vapevent, a new event around the e-cigarette. Can you briefly introduce your team and your project ?
Vapevent brings together a team of vaping enthusiasts, eager to create many partnerships with all the players committed to the freedom to vape. With Elise and Pierre (Editor's note: L&O agency), co-organizers, we have built a project whose ambition is to defend and support, from now on, all independent vaping: professionals, users, modders, bloggers, media , as well as “external” personalities, such as health professionals or future ambassadors of vaping.
At the center of our priorities, Vapevent wishes to support the economic development of players in the vaping industry, by offering unique opportunities to establish new commercial contracts and prospective contacts, as well as to work and discuss with the whole of the “ecosystem” of e-cigarettes and e-liquids. For Vapevent, contributing to strengthening the economic solidity of professionals is a fundamental objective: we consider that all vaping - from the freedom of use to the diversity of the material, including regulatory and normative pressures - has the obligation of success. economic in 2016, if we collectively want to build a hopeful future.
In addition to the expectations of vapers and vapers, Vapevent thus pursues a mission shared by all professionals in vaping products: to support the millions of smokers, in France and around the world, as much as possible, towards quitting their smoking. To achieve this, it is in particular necessary to improve communication towards public opinion, in order to explain the potential of vaping to save millions of lives, contrary to the fears generated by disinformation and of which our industry is a victim.
- From what we have seen, the Vapevent is therefore a 100% professional show, do you plan to make one open to the public afterwards? ?
First, we think of Vapevent as a global concept, rather than a living room that we hear about during 2 or 3 days when it's done, and then nothing happens during the rest of the year. Each e-cigarette or e-cigarette professional measures the magnitude of the challenges we will face together during the 2016 year. Either we do nothing or we act, but it is now, for example, that the fight against the European directive must take shape. Measures such as the ban on vape in public places or censorship of the vape worry us all and we could not remain inactive. From the beginning of this new adventure, with Elise and Pierre, we envisioned the Vapevent as a platform to be defended globally, with the support of shows, the free vape. In other words, Vapevent will try to propose actions all year long, which will be shown during the high points of our events, and first of all with the independent professionals of the vape who support us, because without them nothing will be possible.
For our first edition, on March 20 and 21, 2016, it is indeed a 100% professional fair: we felt it necessary to lay a solid foundation and bring together the French and international companies for which the future of free vape is a daily concern. During this March event at the Paris Event Center, we will present actions that aim to defend our sector, while free vaping is facing an existential turning point: do we want to abdicate in the face of shameful attempts at over-regulation? Is it okay to censor vaping when alcohol advertisements appear in all magazines? If the questioning of the “Tobacco Products Directive” requires renewed European cooperation, France must live up to its responsibilities: our country is the world leader in product quality and French vapers are the most numerous in Europe. Also, after the March event, we hope to be able to offer events that will be open to the general public, because vapers are the first concerned by the future of the independent vaping industry.
- Without necessarily going back in full on the controversies to which you answered, certain professionals explained to us that they did not know what to do. Two shows in the space of a week, unless you have a large structure, it is impossible to manage financially. Choosing a less close date would not have been a better option for you or for professionals ?
What controversy are we talking about? If we want a free vape, then our freedom to organize shows and other initiatives must be respected. For professionals who still had questions, I invite them - as with all their choice of exhibitions in France and abroad - to judge on the facts and to select the events that will best serve their interests, both specific but also collective, because the coming year will be, with the May 2016 deadline of the European directive, the period of all challenges. Finally, to those who have doubts about the ability of Vapevent to bring together the most solid and committed players in favor of vaping, I invite them to contact our team, so that we can explain our approach, as well as the projects. who are ours.
Is it possible to know where the progress of the organization of the show is? Is there a risk of cancellation as we have seen previously ?
For the March edition, the organization of Vapevent is progressing very well and many companies have already shown their confidence in us: a big thank you to them and we are putting all our energy to serve them as best as possible, again in association with requirements that are shared, namely to consolidate the revolution of the vape. Today, one thing is certain: I can guarantee you 100% that the first edition of the Vapevent will be held as agreed on March 20 and 21, 2016, at the Paris Event Center.
Will we have the right to lectures at the Vapevent? Maybe already planned topics or names to present for your event ?
Several projects are in the process of being finalized and I cannot tell you all about them yet! However, I am already announcing that we will be offering a new concept of “Keynote”, intended for professionals: during short sessions and on a stage dedicated to this purpose, exhibitors will be able to individually present their companies, innovations and new products, as well as their perspectives. development, and this in the direction of all visitors to the show. These “Keynotes” will also be filmed and broadcast on the web, which can then be used as communication media for companies that so wish.
