IRELAND: Doctors call on government to ban sale of e-cigarettes to children

In Ireland, doctors do not like the advances in the country's legislation on e-cigarettes. They recently said laws banning the sale of e-cigarettes to children need to be speeded up. According to them, it appears that more and more young people are "falling" into the trap of vaping.

"SLOW" PROGRESS ON THE "GATEWAY" TO SMOKING!

Doctors nationwide recently said laws banning the sale of e-cigarettes to children must be speeded up. These warnings are taken from a recent brief presented before the budget vote by the Tobacco Working Group of Royal College of Physicians.

Its president, the Dr. Des Cox, said that although vaping is considered safer than smoking, the user still inhales addictive nicotine.

« In recent years, e-cigarettes have become more and more popular among young people in many countries. Urgent action must be taken to prevent this phenomenon from transposing into Ireland" , did he declare. " Although e-cigarettes are considered less harmful than smoking, exposing young people to nicotine through the use of these products is a major health concern. »

The government had previously promised to ban the sale of e-cigarettes to people under the age of 18, but progress has been slow, despite fears that it could be a potential "gateway" to smoking. E-cigarettes are also being touted as an option for quitting smoking and doctors have stressed that research should be done on their role in this area.
