Alcohol and tobacco continue to bring some liquidity to the state budget. Employees of the Customs and Excise Administration detailed on Thursday, before the members of the Finance and Budget Committee, the revenues of these two products for the year 2017, said the Chamber of Deputies.
For this year, excise duties on tobacco will bring 550 million euros to the state. This figure is not quite complete since it does not include VAT. In total, tobacconists will sell 2,9 billion cigarettes and 3,8 tons of loose tobacco, down from 41% in ten years. Tobacco sales in Luxembourg depend on the number of smokers but also the difference in sales prices with neighboring countries.
