The National Academy of Pharmacy advises to reserve the use of electronic cigarettes for smoking cessation only and to ban it in public places.
Given the uncertainties that persist regarding the composition of the products used in e-cigarette refills, the Academy of Pharmacy has several reservations about the use of electronic cigarettes.
She recommends :
- that the qualitative and quantitative composition of the products used in the refills be specified and controlled within the framework of an AFNOR standard;
- that the temperature obtained at the outlet of the atomizer is also monitored in order to avoid the transformation of glycerin into acrolein, a very toxic substance.
The Academy still advises its ban - like tobacco - in public places. She asks that its use be exclusively reserved for people in the process of nicotine withdrawal.
