With authorization of nicotine e-liquids in New Zealand, the e-cigarette is an increasingly essential alternative for smokers. With the large clouds of vapor in public places, the country's health officials are however concerned about a possible erosion of the image of vaping among the general public.
THE E-CIGARETTE NEEDS BASIC GUIDELINES!
With the authorization of e-liquids with nicotine, the e-cigarette is beginning to impose itself in the country. Yet clouds of vapor are clearly not to everyone's liking.
E-cigarette users no longer hesitate to vape everywhere, whether outdoors or indoors, and this poses a real problem for the general public.
Rebecca Ruwhiu-Collins, responsible for Maori public health Hāpai Te Hauora is currently working with vape shops and vapers to establish some basic guidelines.
These guidelines are simple : Do not use your e-cigarette in densely populated areas, ask the surrounding people if this is not a problem and not vaping near parks or schools.
As a reminder, Hāpai Te Hauora has always supported vaping as an alternative to smoking because it is the most effective way to get people to quit smoking.
« Vape is at least 95% safer [than smoking] Says Ruwhiu-Collins. But this one also thinks that the vapoteurs should not impose their big clouds of vapor in the occupied public places.
« What we especially don't want is for vapers to be stigmatized as smokers“, Says Ruwhiu-Collins. According to her, e-liquid sellers should remind vapers not to use e-cigarettes anywhere.
For Rebecca Ruwhiu-Collins, going to the store is an opportunity to remind vapers: “ You can not go out in densely populated areas and impose your big clouds of steam"
