Here we are ! After almost a month of testing, we finally offer you the complete test of the Chinese giant's new baby " Kangertech". The " Subox »Has already made a big splash in the world of e-cigarettes and it sells like hot cakes in the shops that sell it. It is therefore our partner Iclope.com who gave us a model so that we can dissect it and present it to you. So what is this famous “Subox” kit worth? Is the K-box mini reliable? Have there been any modifications and improvements on the Subtank mini? As usual, we will offer you a full test in article and video form in order to be as precise as possible.
SUBOX BY KANGERTECH: PRESENTATION AND PACKAGING
The Kit « Subox Kanger is presented in a rigid cardboard box, the Kbox and Subtank Mini are installed in a foam case to protect them from shocks. The package includes: The K-box Mini, a Subtank Mini atomizer, 2 OCC resistors (one at 0,5 Ohm and another at 1,5 Ohm), an Rba base, a Usb cable, a mini screwdriver, a Japanese organic cotton pad, two micro-coils to 0,5 Ohm and seals and screws spares. It should be noted : You will need to plan to purchase an 18650 battery which is not provided! In terms of the characteristics of this Subox kit, we will have a Kbox mini with a length of 82 mm, a width of 22 mm for a weight of 110 grams without battery. (count around 230 grams with the battery). For the Subtank mini, we will be on a classic model with a length of 48 mm, a diameter of 22 mm and a weight of about 66 grams.
SUBOX: A DESIGN ABOUTI BUT A COVERING A LITTLE FRIABLE!
Kangertech worked well on his model because the Subox kit turns out to be pretty well finished. Made in a zinc alloy, the Kbox mini and the Subtank mini are solid even if a bit heavy. The box is very ergonomic, it is well in hand and the buttons are easily accessible. On the design side, Kangertech thought of making two models: Black or white, and we can only appreciate having a complete set-up of the same color. The white model offers a classy and refined design as for the black model, it has, for its part, more a "video game controller" look with its red buttons on a black background. On the Kbox mini, we can see the inscription " Kangertech "In a font that would make you think of a recognized sports car brand and on the top we can clearly see near the pine 510 engraving" Kbox mini In a solid color. The only flaw at this level and not the least: The coating tends to be easily damaged (especially on the Subtank mini) which is very damaging for a product which nevertheless borders on perfection at the aesthetic level. Finally we will also put a little less on the logo pierced on the back of the box which suggests the battery, this is not very good taste.
KBOX MINI: AN EASY TO USE AND EFFICIENT BOX!
Kanger understood it well, his first Kbox of the name was frankly not up to what is currently on the market. So we wondered if the Kbox mini would make some rectifications in this area and clearly the answer is yes! Kangertech hit hard this time offering a box for all audiences. Easy to use, the Kbox mini has only 3 buttons : one to turn on / off and vaper and two others to modulate the variable power. The buttons are solid and quite pleasant to use, if you press 5 times on the switch, you will turn on or off the box. The Kbox mini therefore includes a variable power system (from 7 to 50 watts in increments of 0.1 watt) and accepts resistances from 0.3 Ohm. For the 510 pine, it is fixed and entirely in brass.
KBOX MINI: A BOX ERGONOMIC AND WELL THOUGHT!
Obviously that's not all! Kanger has thought of several small things to greatly facilitate the use of its Kbox mini. First of all the presence of the micro usb port on the front of the box, it seems logical but it is a small detail to which we are very attached and which avoids having to necessarily lay it down to recharge it. The hatch that protects the battery is magnetic, solid, and this is also a very good point, so no need to remove screws to change your battery, you just have to pull on the hatch and put it back in place just as easily. (I tend to play with ... I would have to stop). All the edges of the Kbox mini are rounded and this provides a very good grip, moreover it is fully in hand by its small size and this is still a positive point. As for the oled screen, it is small, simple and offers only the essentials, so you will find above the display of the variable power, the voltage, the value of your resistance and the autonomy of your battery. . The diameter of the box (22 mm) will allow you to install not only your other Kanger atomizers but also any atomizer of a size equal or less than 22 mm knowing that those which are of greater size will adapt but will exceed the size of the Kbox mini.
KBOX MINI: A VAPE QUALITY VERY GOOD AND NICE!
No worries detected at this level, the Kbox Mini offers a frankly correct and pleasant quality of vape. We are also not in the quality of what its competitor Joyetech offers with the Evic VT but this little box works very well. We will underline the fact that the Kbox mini will accept a vape on reconstructable as well as a classic or even sub-ohm vape, on the other hand you will not be able to use titanium or Ni200 resistors since it does not have a temperature control (which kanger will probably rectify very quickly!). However, there is one small thing that we can blame it for and which is probably due to its chipset: The overconsumption of energy. Even with a battery 18650 efest purple (2500mAh), the battery is empty very quickly and you will often need to recharge. We remain at this level quite far from the longevity performance of Istick 50 watts, Innokin Mvp or Evic VT.
SUBTANK MINI: A NOTABLE IMPROVEMENT IN QUALITY!
If we are not going to talk about the Subtank mini having already proposed a complete review on this model, there are nevertheless some interesting points to discuss about the improvements proposed by Kangertech. If the basic Subtank mini was already of good quality, certain points needed improvement and the Chinese designers did not fail in their mission. So you still have the possible use of OCC resistors (organic cotton), those of 1,5 ohm for a classic vape and those of 0,5 ohm for a stronger sub-ohm vape (we do not recommend the use of these sub-ohm resistors for new vapers). As for the Kbox mini, the supplied Subtank mini is zinc alloy and includes a pyrex tank with a capacity of 4,5 ml (or 4,2 ml in RBA mode). For the model supplied, the innovation lies mainly in the Rba kit which has changed a little in its design:a base is now pierced with 2 liquid supply holes and the bell is no longer screwed onto the base, it simply clips onto it. A small screw on the side now secures everything. Moreover, you do not have to unscrew it completely, a little bit of a screwdriver is enough to loosen the bell and remove it. This solves the fairly recurring problem of the bell which got stuck on the old models and made more than one lose patience! The rendering is also very pleasant and the assembly remains quite simple especially if you use the pre-assembled coils provided by Kanger. (To see the assembly, go to the video review).
WHAT TO USE AND PRECAUTIONS!
The Kbox mini will adapt to all your clearomizers and atomizers nevertheless, it is better to use equipment with a diameter of 22mm maximum to not see your atomizer to exceed on the sides. This box is basic adapted to manage the sub-ohm, but you will still have to buy a battery with a discharge capacity of at least 20 Amp (ex: Efest purple 18650). For my part I was able to use it with several models of Subtank (Kanger), drippers and reconstructable atomizers without having encountered any particular problem.

Reliable, robust and easy to use, The Subox kit will suit both newbies and seasoned users looking for a small discreet set-up. The look of Subox kit by Kangertech catches the eye and its price easily arouses interest and envy. If we currently have to recommend a ready-made kit to the right price / quality, it's at the top of the list. No product is perfect so we forgive it for its few faults, a pity nevertheless that it is not delivered with a battery which would have allowed new users to have a fully secure set-up. Kanger has struck again and our feeling is that they will not stop there!
