It had been a while since we last talked about Kangertech products… Well, here's the opportunity! If the Subvod did not immediately make a splash in the community, it is probably because Kanger is clearly behind its competitors in this market. We discovered this little "Beginner's Kit" a few weeks ago and therefore decided to test it! So what is it worth ? Is it really a kit suitable for beginners ? Kanger does it better than his competitors with the Subvod ? As usual, you will have the right to an article as well as a video review to be as complete as possible. Let's go to the discovery of this product!
SUBVOD (KANGER): PRESENTATION AND PACKAGING
The kit « Subvod »By Kangertech is presented in a rigid cardboard box of black and red color, this one opens on the side and contains as usual a lot of indications. First of all there is a label with a code in order to be able to identify the product and also the version of the clearomizer which is of 3,2 ml for the US version and only 1,9 ml for the European version (Tpd ready product?). Inside you will findz the Subvod battery accompanied by his Toptank Nano, a spare Pyrex tank, a USB charging cablet as well as a notice (in English only). A resistance 0,5 Ohm is also provided in the pack so that you can use it straight away. For the technical characteristics, the set-up is 142mm height for 18,5 mm of diameter, the battery has a capacity of 1300 mAh and the supplied Toptank has a capacity of 3,2ml.
SUBVOD (KANGER): THE SUCCESSOR OF EVOD!
For the design, no big surprise, we find a very simple and sober look, really like the famous kit Evod that the "elders" knew when they first started out in vaping. Entirely in aluminum (well it seems to us), the battery clearly does not give confidence, like a slightly “knock” aspect which does not exude solidity. Available in 6 colors, there is probably something for everyone: Blue, silver, black, white, pink, purple, There is something for every taste. Only the inscription "Subvod" appears on the bottom of the battery. Note all the same that the toptank looks a lot like the subtank nano and goes very well with the Subvod battery.
SUBVOD (KANGER): A VERY CLASSIC 1300 MAH BATTERY… OR TOO CLASSIC!
First of all, let's talk about the battery, which we clearly expected better! If the design reminds us of the famous "Evod", the power offered has changed little, and if Joyetech has been able to offer batteries of the same type much more efficient, Kangertech was limited to 1300mAh which gives a clear autonomy a little feeble. The button on this one remains very classic, 5 pressures to turn on and off and press to "fire". The micro usb charging port under the battery clearly doesn't help, forcing us to lay it down to charge it (something nobody likes to do!) .. What more can we say? The 510 port remains after all very classic and is not spring loaded, the diameter of the battery to 18,5 mm will allow us few other possibilities for the choice of the atomizer. The Kanger Subvod will work all the same in "Passthrough" mode even if this will clearly not be the main argument of the purchase!
SUBVOD (KANGER): A TOPTANK NANO ATOMIZER THAT SURPASSES ITS PREDECESSOR!
If the battery itself is not exceptional, the atomizer provided is really interesting! The Toptank Nano, a worthy successor to the Subtank Nano, has been able to improve itself by offering some simple things. If in terms of design and conception, we do not immediately notice the improvements, there is one that we really liked: The fact of being able to fill your atomizer from the top. With the Toptank, you will therefore have the choice of filling your atomizer in the traditional way by removing the base or removing the top cap in order to fill it very easily. We still find the rotating air-flow ring but this time only offers a single slot allowing you to adjust your air flow really as you wish. If you wish, you will be able to remove the drip-tip which is therefore removable. Inside the atomizer, a structure blocks the resistance in order to prevent it from moving (thus avoiding leaks and other inconveniences). If we were able to obtain the US version at 3,2 ml, we clearly regret the creation of this European version at 1,9 mm which makes this Toptank lose all its interest.
SUBVOD (KANGER): TWO SSOCC RESISTORS TO CHOOSE!
In the kit Subvod »You will only find one, the SSOCC 0,5 ohm but it is always good to know that it also exists in version 1,2 Ohm If you feel like it. Moreover, we think that for a beginner's kit, a sub-ohm resistance is not necessarily what is the most appropriate, even more when we provide a relatively weak battery. Regarding SSOCC resistors, we are not going to make a pamphlet even if we must admit that we are generally not very happy with the last resistances produced by Kanger (SSOCC and OCC V2). Note that if you already have the Nebox, it accepts the same resistances as the Toptank. In the end, in terms of the quality of the vape we are not too badly off, unfortunately the limited power of the battery and the inability to vary the power are two big black spots that will spoil the product a bit.
PRECAUTIONARY ADVICE REGARDING THE USE OF THE "SUBVOD" KIT
This kit being basic adapted to manage the sub-ohm, you do not have to worry a priori from a safety point of view. Kangertech's "Subvod" kit has been configured to accept resistors at 0,5 ohm, so we have the right to trust it. However, take the time to read the instructions in order to make the best use of your equipment. Also remember that it will be possible to install other atomizers in 18,5 mm and less on your Subvod battery, nevertheless remember to check the value of your resistors before use.

Even with the greatest of wishes, we do not necessarily want to recommend this kit to you " Subvod »As Kanger is far from the competition in this area. If the Toptank Nano turns out to be a super atomizer, the battery 1300 Mah ultra simplistic will make you want to flee for most already initiated vapers. As for beginners? Well, we must admit that there is currently much more suitable material on the market. But do not denigrate this kit completely either " Subvod“, It will be perfect as a backup to troubleshoot and could be suitable for a first initiation to vaping.
