UNITED KINGDOM: The "Boom" effect of electronic cigarettes has worn off.

According to statistics presented by the newspaper Telegraph, the famous "Boom" that the vape has known since its arrival on the market would be over. While vaping is accused by some of being as bad as cigarettes for health, a drop in the number of smokers wishing to switch to electronic cigarettes has reportedly been observed.

FALL IN THE NEW USERS OF ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES

Mintel, an analyst who produces market research says that for the first time since the arrival of the electronic cigarette, a reduction in the number of people wishing to use it to quit smoking has been observed from 69% last year to 62% this year. These numbers would sort of follow recent studies that have reported that vaping can be as bad as smoking for the heart.

Mintel also announces that the use of non-prescription nicotine replacement products remains stable at 15%, as does the use of nicotine gums or patches which are at 14%. Today less than a third of Britons (30%) consume conventional cigarettes, the figure is therefore down compared to 2014 (33%).

Roshida Khanom analyst at Mintel states, " The lack of licensed products positioned as smoking cessation methods hampers the e-cigarette industry. Therefore, we do not see so many new users participating in the e-cigarette market »

« Our research shows that the majority of consumers don't know how e-cigarettes work and would like to see more UK Public Health (NHS) regulation. »

According to the report produced, more than half of Britons (53%) believe that electronic cigarettes should be regulated by the British public health (NHS), besides that, 57% say that there is not enough information available on the operation of vaping devices.
