UNITED KINGDOM: Almost half of vapers are no longer smokers.

In the United Kingdom, the annual Tobacco and Health Action (ASH) survey on tobacco consumption and e-cigarette use reveals that more than half of e-cigarette users are former smokers and especially have stopped smoking.

1,5 MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ARE VAPOTE AND TOTALLY NON-SMOKERS!

This is the first time that this bar has been reached, more than half of the 2,9 million e-cigarette users are no longer smokers. If until now this figure was not so important, according to the study it is important to specify that many vapers are still vaping smokers which means that they are still exposed to carcinogens in tobacco smoke.

To Ann McNeill, professor and specialist in tobacco addiction at King's College London " Survey reveals that around 1,5 million vapers are ex-smokers, for the first time this figure is higher than that of vapers". She also specifies that " This is encouraging news, as we know that people who continue to smoke continue to be exposed to carcinogens. The message for the 1,3 million vapers who still smoke is to go one step further by making a total transition"

The survey also found that the dangers of the vape were overestimated even though only 13% of respondents acknowledged that e-cigarettes are much less harmful than smoking. For 26%, the harmfulness of electronic cigarettes remains as important or even greater than that of tobacco.

To Deborah Arnott, Executive Director of ASH (Action on smoking & Health), that's a good thing, but she still points out that there are still nine million active smokers.
