UNITED KINGDOM: Recommendations for the vape at home.

UNITED KINGDOM: Recommendations for the vape at home.

In the United Kingdom, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents has issued recommendations in the last few days regarding home vaping. 4 associations are concerned, the ROSPA, CAPT (Child accident prevention trust), the LFB (London Fire Brigade) and the CFOA (Chief Fire Officers Association), the work produced was done in consultation with the public health services (Public Health England).

passive smokingTHE ENGLISH DOES NOT FUME AT THEM!

In England, near 7 people on 10 refuse to smoke in their homes. It is also worth noting that 9 kids on 10 live in homes without tobacco and are therefore safe from passive smoking. But more than that, children are protected:

- Health risks, it ranges from lung problems to cancers. Despite the vigilance of the English, more than 9500 child hospital visits are recorded per year as a result of passive smoking, at a cost of £ 300.000.

- Copying their elders. Obviously, the fact of not living in an environment where tobacco is democratized will considerably reduce the risks of seeing the child in turn become a smoker.

- Fire risks. It should be remembered that cigarettes, pipes or other cigars are the number one cause of fires in homes.

Are the risks the same for e-cigarettes? Well the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents asked the question and it emerges:

- That for passive vaping, vapor exposure shows little effect and the health risk is low. However, throat irritation may appear.

- That electronic cigarettes and e-liquids should be kept out of the reach of children to prevent them from being tempted to use them.

- That if there are about 2700 fires in houses due to cigarettes, there is no reason for an e-cigarette to create an incident. For this it is obviously necessary to respect the precautions of use when loading this one (never use an unsuitable charger for example).

- That the risks of poisoning mainly concern babies and that the same precautions must be taken as for drugs or cleaning products. If an e-liquid is swallowed, you must quickly contact a poison control center.

smoke-free homesTHE BEST TIPS

- If a smoker does not feel ready to quit, totally smoking outside the home completely reduces the risk of secondhand smoke.
- There is no known risk in vaping indoors for those around you, it even makes it possible to keep the house as a non-smoking area.
- E-cigarettes and e-liquids should not be within the reach of children.
- Use a suitable charger and never leave your e-cigarette charging unattended.
