SCIENCE: LFEL opens biology section and prepares for scientific watch

In a recent press release, the LFEL (French laboratory of e-liquid) announces the opening of a biology section within its “ Research and Development". The objective will be both to carry out a scientific watch in order to decipher and comment on certain publications, in particular those taken up by news sites, but above all to study in depth the toxicological impact of the vaporization phenomenon on the Man.

A NEW VOLUNTARY APPROACH TO THE PERSONAL SPRAY DEFENSE!

Here is the official communiqué of the LFEL proposed by the Dr. Sophie Maria in charge of the biology section of the R&D pole under the direction of Dr. Hélène LALO.

Created in 2014, the French E-Liquid Laboratory quickly became a benchmark player in the world of vaping. Whether for its service offerings or for the establishment of its R&D center, the wish of LFEL managers has always been to compose a multidisciplinary team. Thanks to its recognized expertise in physics / chemistry, the laboratory has become a privileged interlocutor with institutions and professionals in the sector in many fields, in particular on standardization issues.

With a wide field of action, the LFEL is expanding further and is preparing to open a biology section within the R&D department. The objective will be both to carry out a scientific watch in order to decipher and comment on certain publications, in particular those taken up by news sites, but above all to study in depth the toxicological impact of the vaporization phenomenon on the Man.

From the outset, the first work produced by R&D focused on observing the operation of an electronic cigarette from a chemical (composition of the e-liquid) and physical point of view (study of user behavior and equipment: clearomizer, battery, wick…). To carry them out successfully, LFEL has developed, with the help of partners integrated in the sector, U-SAV (Universal System for Analysis Vaping), the first vaping robot capable of reproducing, controlling and measuring the various physical parameters of the vapor. vaporization. Today it has become an essential tool for enabling controlled generation of steam adapted to the needs of research.

The creation of a section to study the effects of vaping in a biological aspect complements this approach. LFEL intends to pursue its voluntary approach to defend this breakthrough innovation that is the electronic cigarette by providing clear and objective answers on its operation and its consequences.

It's the Dr. Sophie Maria, graduate of the Bordeaux School of Health Biology, who was chosen for this post. She therefore joined the R&D team led by Doctor Hélène Lalo. Its mission will be initially to carry out an important synthesis of the bibliography available on these subjects then to set up an action plan in order to carry out the first series of studies. She will also be in charge of developing partnerships with independent laboratories and finding funding.

VapCell, innovation in the service of biology

Project Organic R&D was baptized VapCellit should bring together several scientists from different backgrounds. The use of the U-SAV vapoteur robot will expose cells to controlled-generated vapor on healthy human lung tissue to measure the impact of actual vaping exposure on the user. The goal is to determine toxicity thresholds for the use of personal vaporizers but also the influence of the chemical composition of e-liquids.

His research will regularly lead to submissions of publications in prestigious scientific journals (Wiley, Elsevier, ACS ...), but also in journals or specialized journals of the world of the vape in order to reach a wider public, as it was particularly the case recently with the PGVG magazine article on the decryption of a US database on the toxicity of e-liquids.

They will also be published on our website: www.lfel.fr.
