SCIENCE: Philip Morris' heated tobacco found toxic after laboratory analysis

The famous system of heated tobacco IQOS by Philip Morris once again in trouble? The product would have been judged to be toxic after laboratory testing. If the tobacco company recognizes the problem, it says that carcinogenic pollutants are eliminated when the tobacco is heated.

FOR PHILIP MORRIS THE POLLUTANTS DISAPPEAR WITH HEATING!

The heated tobacco system IQOS never stops talking about him in bad terms ... And this time it is in Switzerland, country of adoption of the tobacco company that it is happening! The discovery was made by a laboratory commissioned by the Blue Cross of Bern, Solothurn and Friborg, according to the results of highly toxic substances, called isocyanates, escaping the filters of the Iqos by Philip Morris.

Hazardous toxins are released when the polymer filters are heated to 100 degrees Celsius, Blue Cross said Sunday in a statement, which the SonntagsZeitung echoed. However, the laboratory did not check whether the substance is inhaled by the smoker.

The researchers heated the filter parts to 100, 160 and 200 degrees. In reality, the device heats the 250 tobacco to 300 additional degrees, according to the manufacturer's specifications.

Philip Morris recognizes the problem. A spokesperson for the tobacco company interviewed by Keystone-ATS, however, assures that the toxin is not inhaled when using an Iqos cigarette. Extensive testing has been done. According to him, the experiments carried out by the laboratory commissioned by the Blue Cross were not carried out under realistic conditions. The cigarette maker further says it has presented studies that show that almost all carcinogenic pollutants are eliminated when tobacco is heated.

ISOCYANATES, A DANGER FOR HUMAN CELLS!

Isocyanates are toxic. They damage the membranes of human cells. They are found in solvents, coatings, paints and industrial foams. Strict regulations apply in the places where they are used.

These molecules can cause ocular lesions such as corneal lesions. They can also irritate the airways, cause asthma, chronic bronchitis or emphysema. Inhaling isocyanates in ambient air can lead to fatal diseases after only one year.
