SOCIETY: To unwind, students prefer cannabis and alcohol to vaping.

According to a study by Smerep, to decompress, many students consume alcohol, cannabis or even tobacco, on the other hand they are not very much vaping.

CANNABIS, ALCOHOL AND EVEN COCAINE TO DECOMPRESS!

It's no secret that students are stressed. 40% of them even believe they are stressed on a daily basis. Almost one in ten French students then turns to antidepressants when a good number of them are ready to use less conventional means… To relax, students still resort to drinking and cannabis. While tobacco consumption tends to drop, it is nonetheless a problem with one in four smoking students, reports the SMEREP.

Alcohol is not the only drug that seduces students. More addictive, illegal drugs concern 1 student on 3. Of these, cannabis is by far the most attractive to young people. Cocaine, amphetamines and heroin are less than 5% of the student population. 20% of respondents believe that cannabis is more dangerous than alcohol.

VAPING DOESN'T REALLY HAPPEN AMONG STUDENTS

If many studies tend to repeat that young people and particularly students are addicted to electronic cigarettes, this is not quite what Smerep reports. Indeed, if electronic cigarettes and gums are mentioned in the report, they only represent a very small number of young people (less than 5%). If public health is worried about a possible gateway effect among young people or even about the possible safety of electronic cigarettes, this report is new proof that vaping should not be the first concern of public authorities.

Whatever one might think, it is still healthier to vape than to drink alcohol or to consume cocaine, cannabis or anti-depressants…. No ?
