The vapers financed the 1st summit of the vape in less than 3 days on social networks. Here is the press release that was unveiled by Jacques le Houezec today.
“Launched on the Internet in social networks on the evening of Friday March 25, the crowdfunding for the 1st vaping summit was completed in less than three days thanks to the mobilization of vapers, vapers and all the actors interested in the vape. This "crowdfunding" of citizens / consumers reveals a very strong expectation on this day and on the measures that the government is preparing for electronic cigarettes, for this product which is increasingly consensual among public health actors.
Proposed by Didier JAYLE (CNAM), Jacques LE HOUEZEC (public health consultant) and Bertrand DAUTZENBERG (Paris Without Tobacco / Respadd), the 1er summit of the vape brings together all the stakeholders of the health policy and the electronic cigarette in order to to take stock of the growing consensus of these actors on the product and its use among former smokers, and to draw up the list of discrepancies to be solved on its use in certain places and on product information (see page next).
More than 380 people gave 25 € on average to exceed the requested budget of 8 370 € *
This is not the first time that vapers have mobilized to defend their practice. The vapers regularly denounce the measures which lead to confusion between tobacco which kills 78 smokers per year in France and an "alternative" which allows precisely to quit smoking. The very rapid mobilization to finance the 000st vaping summit was supported by the hope of influencing government measures often based on concern and the failure to take into account the most recent consensual factual data on the product. Bans taken in the name of public health and safety may help to leave smokers longer under the influence of tobacco, a product that kills half of its loyal consumers and thus be counterproductive in the fight against tobacco . "
