SWITZERLAND: Bans ineffective, "puff" e-cigarette still sells among young people

A blessing for some, a real scourge for others, the “puff” e-cigarette has in any case become a real subject of debate in recent months all over the world. In Switzerland, it is a hit with young people even in the cantons where it is prohibited for young people (minors).

A FINE UP TO 40 FRANCS!

Normally the expected fine of 40 Swiss Francs provided for in the event of the sale of e-cigarettes to a minor should have curbed the "puff" phenomenon among young people. There is nothing! In Switzerland, only a handful of cantons, mainly in French-speaking Switzerland, prohibit the sale of electronic cigarettes to minors. Among these are Geneva, Fribourg, Neuchâtel, Berne and Valais.

In French-speaking Switzerland, the program " A Good Hearer tried to show the ineffectiveness of these prohibitions. teenagers from 14 and 15 years were sent to a series of stores with a mission to buy "puffs" without lying about their age. On 17 shops visited, seven sold them these products without the slightest control or the slightest question, either 41% establishments tested.

Faced with the rise of the phenomenon, Aglae Tardin, a doctor recently sent a missive to all tobacconists in Geneva, recalling that the fines incurred can reach 40 francs. " It is assumed that at least some of the sellers are not aware of the illegality of the approach"

In the meantime, it is the entire vape sector that must face criticism, while currently only the legislative and judicial system is guilty of negligence all over the world.
