SWITZERLAND: Canton of Jura wants to ban e-cigarettes for minors

In Switzerland, the Jura government wants to ban the sale of e-cigarettes to minors. Currently, their sale is authorized in the canton of Jura while that of products containing tobacco is prohibited.

THE E-CIGARETTE SOON TO BE PROHIBITED FOR MINORS?

For the Government, there is therefore a gap to be filled until the entry into force of the federal law on tobacco products and electronic cigarettes. He thus submits to Parliament a modification of the health law stipulating that not only the sale of these products to minors is illegal, but that the free distribution is also illegal.

This measure is part of the strategy set by the smoking prevention program, the canton of Jura said on Thursday. It aims to protect young people, to prevent the consumption of tobacco products, as well as to prevent diseases related to it. Several cantons already prohibit the sale of e-cigarettes to minors.
