SWITZERLAND: A new independent study by Unisanté to determine the effectiveness of e-cigarettes

In France there is the study ECSMOKE currently in progress, in Switzerland it is a vast independent study on the e-cigarette that is launched by Uniheath, in collaboration with the University Hospital of Bern and the HUG in Geneva.

AN INDEPENDENT STUDY WITH 1200 PEOPLE ON 3 DIFFERENT SITES!

Is the e-cigarette really effective in quitting smoking? Is it harmful to health? In an attempt to provide answers to these questions, a vast survey independent program was launched in Switzerland by Unisanté, the Lausanne University Center for General Medicine and Public Health, in collaboration with the University Hospital of Bern and the HUG in Geneva.

This study aims to include 1200 participants on 3 sites, including 300 at 400 in Lausanne, explained the Dr. Isabelle Jacot Sadowski, associate doctor at Unisanté, tobacco expert and coordinator for Lausanne of this study.

« This study aims to answer two questions: does vaping help to quit smoking and reduce exposure to substances harmful to health? Currently there are a few studies that seem to show that vaping helps to quit smoking but more results are needed to confirm this data.“, Noted the doctor, who clarified that this study is independent both of the tobacco industry but also of the pharmaceutical industry.

Unisanté is launching an appeal on Monday to find participants. If you are over 18 years old, have smoked more than 5 cigarettes a day for a year and you want to quit within 3 months, you can register on the site: "etudetabac@hospvd.ch" or at the following telephone number: 079 556 56 18.
