TOBACCO: Small gifts from Japan Tobacco to the deputies.

Shameful! Japan Tobacco has published a list of around XNUMX parliamentarians to whom the major sent gifts last year. Including champagne and invitations to Roland-Garros.

MORALIZATION OF POLITICAL LIFE? THERE IS STILL WORK!

Tobacco manufacturers are still lobbying. Since January 2016, they have to publish their expenses related to influence activities As the former Minister of Health, Marisol Touraine imposed in law. On the website of the Ministry of Health, we learn in particular that Philip Morris employs 10 people to lobby. And spends nearly 400.000 euros with six consulting companies in France, Brussels and Luxembourg, including Rivington (Vera SA).

But we discover especially that Japan Tobacco International (Camel, Winston ...) has multiplied the gifts and invitations to 53 parliamentarians for a total of 6629 euros. From a bottle of champagne to 48 euros - from Ruinart after a good connoisseur - offered for the New Year 2016, seats in the box at Roland Garros or movie premieres for 165 euros. Among the lucky ones, Bernard Accoyer MPs, Benoist Appeared, François Baroin, Eric Ciotti, Laurent Wauquiez and Eric Woerth, as well as senators like François Patriat.

On the podium of parliamentarians for whom Japan Tobacco has spent the most, we find Jean-François Mancel (529 euros) and Marie-Christine Dalloz (379 euros), two of the deputies who have supported a number of pro-tobacco amendments in recent years , in particular to change the tax system favoring Philip Morris. The law requires parliamentarians to declare these benefits in kind to the ethics officer of the National Assembly when their value exceeds 150 euros. These two deputies as well as Yannick Favennec, Denis Jacquat, Annick Le Loch, Christine Pirès Beaune, Didier Quentin and Dominique Tian therefore had to declare them to the ethics officer Agnés Roblot-Troizier. Contacted, the latter did not wish to answer us. An astonishing silence when the law on the moralization of political life has just been passed.
