VIRTUAL REALITY TO "OVERCOME TEMPTATION" AND "SOCIAL PRESSURE" ...

In the United States, according to a study published in 2017 by the National Institute of Drug Abuse, 6,3% of 14-year-olds and 9,3% of 16-year-olds already use electronic cigarettes. In order to combat this phenomenon, the new division Play4Real Yale University has teamed up with PreviewLabs to create a game in virtual reality. The pilot program is partly funded by Oculus, the VR division of Facebook.

Entitled smokeSCREEN VR, the game is supposed to help young people overcome temptation »And« social pressure Which can lead them to try the electronic cigarette. The scenario of the experiment has not yet been unveiled in detail, but the game will place young people in a realistic virtual environment inspired by everyday life.

Characters will offer them to try the e-Cigarette, and players will be able to practice refusing using a voice recognition system. Depending on their responses, virtual characters will react differently. The objective is to allow users to practice saying no categorically, while correcting their " false prejudices about the e-cigarette"

These games will be available on the Oculus Store for devices like the Gear VR or the Oculus Go.
