The effects of stopping vaping on the body according to the Sun

Among our English neighbors the newspaper “The Sun” was interested in the effects of stopping vaping on our body, here is the summary of this article which scares me, and I will tell you below why.

“Electronic cigarettes, often presented as a less harmful alternative to smoking, are the subject of debate regarding their safety and their impact on health. According to the NHS, they are "substantially safer" than tobacco, but not without risks, including lung and heart disease, tooth decay, and sperm damage. Faced with the worrying increase in vaping among adolescents, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced measures to ban disposable vapes and penalize the illegal sale of these products to minors, particularly targeting flavors appealing to young people.

Quitting vaping results in withdrawal symptoms similar to those of smoking cessation, due to nicotine dependence. These symptoms may include intense cravings, headache, irritability, anxiety, depression, difficulty concentrating, agitation, trouble sleeping, increased appetite, and initial weight gain. Although these symptoms may be intense at first, they tend to disappear after four weeks for most individuals, although some may experience them longer.

The health benefits of stopping vaping appear gradually. Within the first few hours, the nicotine begins to leave the body, causing cravings. After 12 hours, the heart rate slows and blood pressure stabilizes. The first few days see an increase in appetite and withdrawal symptoms such as irritability and anxiety. After a week, an improvement in taste and smell is noticeable. In the following months, lung capacity improves, symptoms of coughing and wheezing decrease, and blood circulation also improves. In the long term, quitting vaping reduces the risk of developing serious diseases related to the pulmonary, cardiovascular and respiratory systems, such as heart attacks, stroke and cancer.

To manage withdrawal symptoms, it is advisable to stay busy, spend time with non-smokers, avoid alcohol consumption which can increase receptivity to nicotine, and above all, not fall back into nicotine addiction. smoking. The key to successful quitting is preparation and support, enabling a healthier transition to a nicotine-free life. »

Our point of view

This article, without being entirely against electronic cigarettes (although…), focuses on the negative effects of nicotine addiction, and not vaping addiction. For most of us, wishing to abandon the killers, this dependence is bijective (we cannot satisfy the need for nicotine without vaping, and vaping allows us to have the dose of nicotine required to not smoke).

The article in question confuses the two. All the effects described are very similar to those resulting from any addiction, without ever explaining that in the case of vaping, it is possible to reduce the nicotine level as you forget your cigarette. for the benefit of the tastes and feelings that vaping provides.

In the case where a vaper (and there are many of them) vapes with zero nicotine, the symptoms described resulting from a total cessation of vaping would be other (searching for the gesture, nervousness at no longer having their “soft toy”, etc.) …but all this is forgotten, and it’s a shame…

Unless his ambition is to bring our English friends closer to their pharmacists, and that scares me...
