UNITED STATES: New Jersey's anti-vape law could force 300 shops to shut down.

In the month of March last, the state of New Jersey had announced want to ban flavorings used for e-liquids. Today, if lawmakers push the bill, store managers worry and project themselves into economic disaster.

A LAW THAT COULD CLOSE 300 BOUTIQUES AND DELETE MORE THAN 1000 JOBS!

Last March, we presented the beginnings of the New Jersey bill to you, indeed during an Assembly committee, a ban on flavors for e-liquids had been mentioned. Today, Democratic lawmakers are pushing this bill by claiming that flavored e-liquids make children smoke. The new legislation, currently under review by State Assembly and Senate committees, would only allow the sale of “tobacco” and “menthol” e-liquids.

Concerning the owners of e-cigarette shops in New Jersey, they are worried and reject this new legislation, which, according to them, will sign the disappearance of their businesses in the state. Advocates of vaping point out that the legal age for buying e-cigarettes and tobacco products in New Jersey is 19, they also point out that e-liquid flavors offer smokers a real alternative to smoking.

To Adam Rubin, manager of the Gorilla Vapes boutique « This new regulation will force 300 stores to close their doors. I am appalled that the governor is set to destroy 300 businesses and over 1000 jobs. No one buys menthol or tobacco e-liquid. The only thing this legislation will do is prevent citizens from working within the law. »

Before becoming a law, this proposal will still have to go through both houses of the legislature and then be approved by Republican Governor Chris Christie.
